“Happy.” That's how I feel right now. And that's how we all should feel right now. Having a naturally blessed life, we tend to forget how happy we should be. Being able to wake up in a warm comfortable bed, eating your mom's delicious breakfast, chatting and laughing with your friends at school, and having fun gatherings with your family at the dinner table. In the real world, there are so many kids that are my age, which means they 're your age too. They are suffering from serious poverty and hunger and forced to work alone, apart from their families. And you know what? They're not just some “kids” or some “people.” They are our friends, my friends.

Let me show you what I meant. Imagine. There is a person who happened to be born on the other side of the world, in the same year, the same month, the same day, and at the same time as you were. You are living a normal life, or at least you think you are, having a family, friends at school and everything. But on the other hand, this person, should I call him “another you”, is having a hard life, no money to go to school with, and is forced to work apart from his family. Now how do you feel? Knowing that while you 're sleeping tight in your cozy bed, another you is working his best for his family to be able to live. You've never been through a serious hardship before; while another you is living through a nightmare. Don 't you feel something burning inside your heart? Now think about there being many kids like another you. Don't you feel the same way about them? This is what I meant about them not being just some kids or some people.

Now let me ask you, what you felt inside your heart was not pity, was it? No, right? It must have been something like a serious feeling that you want to help them. You must have felt from the bottom of your heart that you want to help them. And that, my friend, is exactly what another you and his friends living on the other side of the world need. They do not need pity, they don 't want it. They want that burning in your heart and your helping hand.

“Send them your heart so they'll know that someone cares
and their lives will be stronger and free.”

“we are the world, we are the children
we are the ones who make a brighter day
   so let's start giving
   there's a choice we're making
   we're saving our own lives
   it's true we'll make a better day
   just you and me.”

You probably all know this song, “We Are the World.” Like the lyrics say, send them your heart. Give them a helping hand. Let them know that you care about them. Because then, that will become their new hope to live through another day. Charity is not about giving money. It's about sharing your heart. If you're happy, share your happiness with them and make it double. If they 're sad, share their sadness and make it less. Because we're the only ones that can understand their feelings. We 're friends. We're close.
There are a lot of ways to help and support our friends in need. For example, there is an organization called “Free The Children” , which aims to help the world's exploited children. Their international projects have brought over 650 schools and water projects to communities around the world.
I have already taken action and joined “Free the Children.” Now, it's your turn. Think of anything you can do to help our friends. Follow me.
